Frequently Asked Questions

  • A Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a food and nutrition expert who has completed:

    • A minimum of a master’s degree in nutrition or a related field

    • A supervised dietetic internship

    • A national board exam

    • Ongoing continuing education

RDNs are licensed in many states and held to strict professional and ethical standards.

The term “nutritionist” is not regulated in most states, so anyone can technically call themselves a nutritionist, regardless of education or training. When you work with an RD, you’re getting care backed by science, clinical experience, and professional standards.
